A Natural Approach to Animal Behavior

Animals misbehave when confused, panicked, have been hurt in the past, abandoned, are in pain, anxious and/or traumatized. When their world is in balance; they behave. Ferals can become friendly. Lost causes can be saved. Phobias can disappear. I say this, because I have seen it happen.

My experience goes back 30 years, working in a half-way house for teenage alcoholics in 1975 where progress was difficult - until we started using Flower Essences.  Because the essences were preserved in brandy, it was impossible to treat the teenagers directly.  Instead, we sprinkled a few drops on the floors before group therapy - using Agrimony to treat the person hiding behind an acrimonious personality, Impatiens for increasing patience, and Gorse for hope.  Our success rate soared, turning these young people around to live satisfying and successful lives.

Later, a horrible horseback riding accident later my life.  After an “involuntary dismount,” when I finally got back to the barn where the horse (who arrived 20 minutes before I did) was being given Flower Essences. The woman gave me the same remedy… then the horse, and then again to me… After that experience, I was convinced there was something to this natural remedy.

Both of these experiences led to the creation of two Essence lines to help both animals and people with stress.

1. ANIMALS - Essences are made from flowers, leaves and sometimes stones which are placed in water in a glass bowl, set in the sun for one hour or up to 3 days, depending upon the plant. The flower’s attributes are “assigned” to the water while the sun “potentizes” the remedy, then strained and preserved in a liquid agent.

BlackWing Farms’ Remedies can be put in the drinking water (shared with others is fine) or on food and treats.  You can spray one spritz on your hand and gently pet your animals’ fur. Hard to reach? Mist the environment.

2. PEOPLE - Aromas with Purpose, our line of Flower Essences and therapeutic grade essential oils, are blended for use by people to affect mood - helping with stress, anxiety, depression, anger, focus.  Used by massage therapists, chiropractors, health care practitioners, teachers, cancer survivor groups.

The names speak for themselves - Hammock Blend, Influence, Integrity & Understanding, No Regrets, Permission To Enjoy, Play With An Open Heart, Strength & Clarity, Witchy Mare, and After The Storm.

Feedback tells us that our remedies have successfully been used on thousands of animals: dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, pigs, sheep, goats, iguanas helping with everything from a trip to the groomers to separation anxiety to phobic behaviors. Best Friends Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah uses our products throughout the Sanctuary.
